About David

David Williams lives on the Presqu’île de Crozon in Brittany, France. A painter since 1996, he works with oil on canvas, capturing naturalistic landscapes and scenes of daily life. Occasionally described as self-taught, for eschewing a formal art school path, university art classes, workshops and studies in French academic drawing have provided a foundation to a lifelong interest in art.

David’s paintings are a way of translating and sharing experiences or scenes of the day. Whether portraying a forest with wild growth, a Saturday market filled with people, or even a simple still-life, the artworks challenge the viewer to see the world with fresh eyes and provide a gentle reminder of the beauty which surrounds us.

These days, David focuses on studio painting, with plein-air reserved for smaller work. His paintings are recognized for saturated color and richly textured surfaces. David’s artworks are found in hundreds of collections and are exhibited throughout the United States and France.
